Portland, OR

I took an Amtrak train to Portland and it cost me $76 (to and fro). I went there not for leisure but work. (I will go again in August during Ramadan time. Travelling and working during Ramadan time is a little hard for me. Insallah I will do my taraweeh prayer in my hotel room).
On the way to Portland, I saw the metal scrapper refinery—scrapping vehicles, refrigerators, etc. It is a so interesting to watch it.
When evening comes about 6 pm I went around downtown but did not enjoy so much since there is nothing much to see. You can get a free ride within downtown Portland on the TriMet Train---easy commute and there is also a bicycle rack on the train.
Usually Summer Music Festival and flea market are held during the week end when I am not around. (Apa boleh buat dah nasib  ).

The young couples: Radhiyya Haroun (18 yrs) & Ruzaimi Ismael (19 yrs) had their Ijab kabul on Friday, bride’s and groom’s night on Saturday, and a reception on Sunday. Both couples are Cham. I noticed that Cham married at a young age. The groom is Mohamed’s (my son-in-law) cousin.
Some people do not agreed marrying at a young age but others do. It reminds me of my daughter (Ana)who wants to get married at 19 yrs old to Mohamed who was 20 yrs old. To me, she is still my baby and I prefer her to complete her undergraduate studies, get a job, and be more matured. At that time, my worries turn into a big headache. I turned to my brothers and my friends for advice and mostly they say no.
After getting advice from our imam, he told me that I should thank Allah because I have a daughter who wants to do the right thing (married) and wants to avoid the haram: going dating or chit chat on the phone. He said that I should not stop my daughter from marrying; it become a ‘MUST’ to married them because they have good reasons unless I want to answer to Allah. Of coz I fear Allah. Anyway who am I to say….. ALLAH is the greatest and the final planner.
I thank Allah for helping me to open up my eyes and looking back into my life …….. I realized that it does not matter how old you are, some will never matured even they are in the 40s, after years of marriage some ended in divorced, some still can succeed and can continue their studies while married and have children.

Yati-Rezeki dah ditulis dlm buku masing masing. Dia orang rajin juga hantar duit ke saudara mara nya di kampong.
PI- Dah tengok dah. Sikit lagi PI jadi orang kaya businessman... jangan terlupa kami.
Mummy jam- no $$ bini kelaparan,  betul tu. Most of the kids here start working at age 15, right after school and wkends pi kerja. By 18 yrs usually dah independent nak dok tempat sendiri. Kalau terjatoh tangga dia orang balik lah ke parents nya.
Putrimlm, ezaiedinRIn- pelamin di Msia banyak jenis lagi.
baning- Your opinion is well taken. Mula mula macam tu lah I fikir. But dah jodoh nya baik dikawinkan dari berpoya poya or berendut kehulu kehilir. Dosa aja yg dapat. Kalau susah payah sama sama lah kita tolong. Ada juga yg 50hn pun maseh macam peel budak tak bersedia lagi.

New stock-urban chickens

FYI, we got new stock of chickens and 2 quails. Quails are easy to maintain, quiet game birds, and Alhamdulilah they lay eggs every day. Oh what happen to our prior chickens? Hmmm….. Yummy in our tummy…..

Vancouver, BC
|
|
Vancouver, BC, is a nice place to visit but not on a grey, cloudy, drizzling day. Anyway that is the weather in the NW but usually summer is beautiful. Vancouver is famous for Capilano Suspension Bridge and the walking trails to the woods. The admission cost about $40CN. It is not because of the money but I am too scared to go through it.
The other sightseeing place is Stanley Park. It has a nice garden with beautiful flowers. We also stroll along the shopping area at downtown Vancouver.

Richmond Summer Night Market

My daughter-in-law has not been to Canada so we decided to go there on one of the weekends. It is about 2 hours drive to reach the Canadian border. We reached Vancouver about 9:30am and it was drizzling. (Nxt entry will be Vancouver, CA).
We stop by at one of the mosque in Richmond, BC. to pray Zohor and Asar. There are 2 mosques in that location: Shia and Sunni. I totally forgot to snap the pictures of the mosques. Insallah next time.
On the way back home we stop at Richmond’s Summer Night Market which has diverse Asian culture and heritage. (Macam pasar lambak tapi tak besar). The Richmond Summer Night Market starts from May 13 - September 18, 2011. It was about 7pm, it’s not sunset yet. We are lucky we found one halal food vendor own by the Chinese Muslim. (3 skewer chicken cost abt $6.50 Canadian).

Veggie from my garden

Lepas tengok bunga, kita tengok veggie pulak. The potato and corns were plant from seeds, the rest(lettuce, string beans, bok choy, brocolli, squash,chilli, egg plant, tomato) we bought anak pokok from nursery. Tiaff tanam and I watch. 
So far dah petik lettuce and bok choy and dah pun masok dalam perut.
